Archivist is needed to oversee the organization, processing, and
digitization of scientific and biomedical research collections,
applying archival management and information management
techniques.What You Will Do
- Oversee the organization, processing, and digitization of
scientific and biomedical research collections.
- Apply archival management, conservation, and information
management techniques.
- Develop policies, procedures, and programs for archival
collections.
- Analyze various media related to scientific research for their
value and accessibility.
- Promote access to collections through an online database.
- Work with historians and curators to convert holdings into
electronic formats.
- Assess and coordinate the transfer of donated materials.
- Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and symposia.
- Provide reference and research assistance.
- Conduct orientation interviews for researchers.
- Maintain statistics on processing, preservation, and use of
collections.
- Prepare updates, reports, and presentations.
- Lead and manage the analysis of unprocessed materials.
- Develop and execute work plans for making materials
accessible.
- Create quality records and finding aids.What You Will Need
- A Bachelors degree. Relevant experience may be substituted for
formal education or advanced degree
- Minimum of TWO (2) Years of experience
- Proven experience in archival science, with a focus on digital
collections and metadata standards, including rare
collections.
- Strong background in data processing and cataloging.
- Experience with data engineering and emerging technologies in
information management.
- Proficiency in data analysis and matrix-based reporting (e.g.,
spreadsheets) to support the development of work plans and
milestones.
- Experience in developing and applying metadata mappings and
transformations to enhance discoverability of digital
collections.What You Will Need
- Advanced degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a
related field. Or certification in a related field.
- Demonstrated success in project management and cross-functional
collaboration.
- Familiarity with digital strategy and long-range planning.
- Demonstrated project management skills, with experience in
managing complex, long-term projects.
- Previous NIH experience is highly preferred.The annual salary
range for this position is $87,100.00-$130,700.00. Compensation
decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not
limited to skill sets, experience and training, security
clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and
